Theia on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV is made to be read from the couch: big text, a gold highlight that shows where you are, and a remote that reaches every button.

No typing with a remote.

Scan the code on your TV with your phone, type your playlist link or login there, and it lands on the TV locked, so only that TV can open it. Our server deletes it once the TV collects it, or after 10 minutes.

A List | Guide switch at the top of Live TV changes between the channel list and the guide, and Theia opens on the one you used last.

In the guide, OK on a program that's on now watches it full screen. Moving around never starts a video, and holding OK opens the program's menu.

As many channels as your TV can handle.

Multiview on a TV plays up to 9 channels, as many as its memory allows. Add to multiview opens the Guide, so you can see what's on before you pick.

Leave and Theia asks whether to keep your channels for next time.

Make the most of it

Small things that make a remote easier.

  1. Sign in from your phone

    Scan the QR code on the TV, or type the short code at theiaplayer.com/link. An account is optional.

  2. Say your search

    Say it into the search box and the search runs.

  3. Keep your channels in multiview

    Back asks Leave multiview? with Keep channels, Close channels and Stay. Kept channels wait on a card on Home.

  4. Leave the player, keep the channel

    Go back from the player and the channel keeps playing in the preview. Settings > Playback switches it off.

  5. Change the buffer from the player

    The player menu has a Buffer button with - and +, for a stream that stutters.

  6. Stay on Theia while it records

    Pressing Home or letting the screensaver start stops a recording started from the player. Keep Theia on screen.

Questions

Which TVs does it run on?

Android TV 7 or newer and Fire OS 6 or newer, including Google TV, with at least 1 GB of memory. Fire TV devices that run Vega OS can’t install it.

Can I install it today?

Yes. The TV page has the install steps for Fire TV, Google TV and other Android TV devices.

Is it on Google Play?

Not yet. A Google Play version is coming.

Is the TV app free?

Yes, with no ads. Multiview and recording are part of Premium, and a Premium key bought on theiaplayer.com works on a TV. See what Premium adds.
